Joe Chirico has been coaching the team since it was established in 1979.  He is the most experienced age group diving coach in New England, having won numerous All-American coaching honors at the Age Group, Senior  and College levels.  Joe has had a great deal of international experience, leading US National-level teams throughout Europe, Canada, Mexico and China plus coaching BAD divers at the World Championships in Sydney, Australia and at other International venues. 

Joe's college experience includes head coaching positions for six years at Boston College and nine years at Northeastern University.  Joe currently is in his third year coaching at Wellesley College and Babson College. As a college coach, Joe won a number of coaching awards including NCAA Division I Zone Coach of the Year, New England Coach of the Year and Eastern Seaboard Coach of the Year.  As a diver, Joe competed for Boston University where he was team captain and record holder. 

In addition to coaching, Joe held the position of Vice President of Junior Diving on the Board of Directors of United States Diving for five years.  Coach Chirico is one of the original 10 USD-certified Trampoline Instructors and a USD Safety Instructor. Joe is currently the National Vice-chair for AAU Diving and the Diving Commissioner for the Bay State Games.  Joe lives in Dover with his wife Carol and two sons, Matthew 12 and Michael 9.  


In 2006, Joe was named NEWMAC men's "Diving Coach of the Year" after his Babson College Diver won the 1 and three meter Conference Championships.


In 2005, Joe was awarded "Volunteer of the Year"  for his work with AAU Diving at the annual AAU Convention in Detroit.


In September 1999, Joe Chirico received the prestigious 1999  "WHOSAM" award as "Man of the year for the new Millennium" awarded by Olympic Gold medalist, Sammy Lee. In granting the award, Sammy Lee wrote: "Joe, I have known you for many years and have watched your continued commitment to the sport we love as a coach, administrator, and grass roots cultivator of U.S. Diving. You have put your heart and soul in it without a thought of financial reward but to see that every child who wants to dive can become the best that he or she can possibly be."
