| WHERE DO WE START? Email is our preferred method of communication. Send
email to info@gobad.com
with a requested date for a tryout or lessons.
Leave name, phone number and age of diver.
We will get back to you and let you know if there is room available on
the date requested or provide an alternate start date. HOW DO I ARRANGE A TRYOUT? Tryouts are for athletes with previous diving experience or
a gymnastics or dance background who are interested in joining the team.
To arrange a tryout and evaluation, either call (508) 785-3030 or email info@gobad.com
and we will arrange a mutually convenient date. I THINK MY CHILD HAS POTENTIAL. Arrange an evaluation for your child by sending an email to info@gobad.com.
We will assess the talent level and physical ability of your child and
recommend a program best suited for your child.
That recommendation may be lessons or an invitation to join the team; the
evaluation may change over time, based on your child’s readiness progress. WHAT SHOULD WE BRING TO LESSONS OR TRYOUTS? The diver should bring gym shorts and t-shirt for dry
training, and a swim suit and towel for the second half of practice.
There are locker rooms and showers adjacent to the pool. DO I NEED FORMS? Yes, parents will be asked to fill out and sign a
release
form and a medical form prior to their child participating in a lesson or practice.
These form is available on this website; you may print it out and bring it
to the pool. Otherwise, parents may
fill out the form at the site, prior to their child participating at practice. WHAT IF I CAN’T MAKE IT ON SUNDAYS? If you are unable to make lessons on Sunday, we may be able to arrange for the diver to train with the team on weeknights during BAD's regularly scheduled practice. This will be done on a case-by-case basis when necessary to accommodate a diver’s schedule. The cost for these lessons is $50 per lesson. WHAT DOES IT COST? Diving lessons are $35.00 for a two hour lessons or $150.00 for a block of 5 two-hour lessons. For information on team fees. WHAT IF I CAN’T GO 5 SUNDAYS IN A ROW? You are not required to make consecutive practices.
You may pay for five lessons and attend when it is convenient, as long as
all lessons are completed by the end of the season (September – June). MY CHILD HASN’T HAD PRACTICE OR LESSONS FOR A LONG TIME. A lot of divers worry that they won’t be good enough or
ready for a practice. Don’t
worry, we realize that not everyone has had much opportunity to practice.
We have had a lot of experience with young divers over the years and know
that they get back into the swing of things quickly, despite feeling nervous or
hesitant. CAN PARENTS STAY AND WATCH? Yes. Parents
are welcome to watch. There is a
viewing area one floor above the dry training room and there are bleachers in
the pool. There is also a small
waiting area where parents (and siblings) can read, do work or watch television.
The room is adjacent to the observation area of the dry training room. IS DIVING SAFE? Yes. Supervised
diving training is a very safe sport. Most
often, “diving accidents” occur when someone is diving in four feet of water
or less. For
additional
information. MY CHILD IS AN INJURED GYMNAST; CAN HE OR SHE DIVE? Many former gymnast switch to diving. Some gymnasts start diving because they have injuries that prevent them from continuing to do gymnastics but do not preclude them from diving. Other gymnasts take up diving once they realize that they can progress further in diving (i.e. qualifying for nationals or receiving college scholarships). For every hundred gymnasts, there are only a handful of divers, and there are many more opportunities to dive in college (every college with a swim team has a diving team). |
