The Ohio State trip June 29- July 3, 2009
This trip will be open to BAD divers only and any college divers who will be
training with us this summer. If you plan on attending zones this will be a very
important training session.
I highly recommend this trip because it is a valuable training
opportunity. We will be training in one
the best diving wells in the country. In addition we have the "dive gym”
available to us as often as we want. The dive gym is the best dry room facility
in the country. With several dry boards and trampolines, and enough room for
about 50 divers. It also has a sitting room for the parents to wait, where they
may watch the training sessions on closed-circuit TV.
The
diving well consists of five 3m diving boards, five 1m diving boards plus a full
set of towers. We have two hours late in the morning plus an additional 2 hours
from 7 PM to 9 PM in the evening. We will be using the dry training room in the
afternoon for as long as we need. The diving well in the dry training room are
about 15 minutes apart from each other.
The coaching staff will be made up of Jim Brainerd and myself plus
the US elite staff. Also coaching will be
Kongzheng Li (KZ).
KZ at one time was the most famous athlete in China. He was their first famous
diver. He's also coached at the University of Minnesota, Mission Viejo and most
recently the Australian national team. In addition there is a chance that a team
from San Diego will join us for this camp along with their coach.
This trip will consist of a lot of diving, I recommend that the divers attending
make sure they're in good shape and ready to take full advantage of this
opportunity.
The
cost of the trip is not yet determined because of the high pool cost at Ohio
State. I would expect the trip to be between $75 and $100 per day. Compared to a
typical diving camp this is a great price.
Parents should get together and decide what they wish to do for housing and
transit. I would like the divers to arrive on June 28 in Columbus and be ready
to dive the morning of the 29th. Please make arrangements to leave on the
evening of July 3. We will try to get one or two workouts in on the third.
